Up until today, remote areas in the Philippines remain unlighted and without power.

In Palawan, some communities experiences 3-6 hours of power outages weekly, while some only have 12 hours of power everyday. In 2018, the National Electrification Administration reported that roughly only 58% of homes in Palawan were energized and that many communities have no prospects of being connected to the grid over the next 5-10 years because of the remoteness of their locations.

One such community is the Batak tribe living at the foot of the mountains in Sitio Tagnaya, Puerto Princesa. Severely affected by Typhoon Odette in December 2021, they continue to struggle to rebuild their lives.

Just the same, the fisheries sector in the Philippines remains among the poorest and most vulnerable in the country. It is made up of small-scale fisherfolk who live on the margins of society, fishing by the light of kerosene or gas lamps. Some of these small-scale fisherfolk communities are those in Northern Mindanao and Mindoro.

Your support will help these communities achieve a brighter future by providing them with ISHS that will aid them in their everyday activities such as household chores, schoolwork and livelihood opportunities. Energy helps families operate with comfort and practicality within their homes, opening opportunities for them to become more productive and successful members of society.
