43 Years of Transforming Lives: Nurturing Young Minds to Transform Communities

In every generation, there are seeds of change, planted through knowledge, nurtured by wisdom, and harvested as innovation. For Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), this spirit thrives in NXplorers, Shell’s global program that equips young minds with tools for problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration. At the heart of NXplorers lies a simple yet powerful cycle: Explore, Create, Change.

  • Suriin (Explore): Students identify a challenge in their community, whether in food, water, or energy, and seek to understand its root causes.
  • Likha (Create): They imagine possible futures, choose a preferred path, and design solutions.
  • Baguhin (Change): They turn vision into action by developing concrete plans and implementing them to create real, lasting impact.

Across the Philippines, thousands of students and teachers have been trained in this approach. They tackled urgent issues such as food security in farming towns, water access in coastal villages, and sustainable energy in schools, transforming classroom lessons into solutions rooted in community needs.

Yet the program’s true legacy goes beyond workshops. The stories live on in schools that continue to apply NX thinking, in students who embrace their role as changemakers, and in communities strengthened by their ingenuity. NXplorers was never meant to be a one-time activity but a mindset, an enduring way of seeing, analyzing, and acting that shapes both leaders and citizens.

As we honor this journey, we celebrate dunong, the timeless gift of learning that multiplies when shared. For knowledge, once planted, never ends. It grows, bearing fruit in every young Filipino who dares to dream and act for change.
