Seasoned with love: Sharon Lozada’s Homegrown Business

Sharon Lozada, solo parent and founder of JB Marinated Chicken, continues to thrive through faith, perseverance, and the inspiration of her children—transforming her love for cooking into a growing business with the help of Shell LiveWIRE.

For Sharon Lozada, food is more than just a livelihood. It is her love language, her healing process, and her way of keeping her family close.

Seven years ago, Sharon’s world turned upside down when she lost her husband. Left to raise their three children on her own, she faced not only the weight of grief but also the need to provide for their daily needs. “’Yung mag-isa ka lang na nagtataguyod ng mga anak mo—mahirap po talaga,” she shares. “Pero kinakaya ko para sa kanila.”

Before her husband passed away, the two were a team. He worked overseas while Sharon nurtured her passion for cooking through a small food business. She had even completed training under OWWA to grow her venture. But when tragedy struck, she put those plans on hold to focus entirely on her children.

Still, a mother’s love never fades. Sharon eventually launched JB Marinated Chicken, named after one of her kids, and filled each product with flavors her children loved growing up. From buttered chicken to barbecue and tocino, every pack tells a story of family, perseverance, and hope. Her children are her most loyal taste-testers. She only releases a new flavor when it earns their approval.

When the pandemic hit, Sharon tried working in real estate to keep the household afloat. But her heart always brought her back to the kitchen. Eager to improve her business, she joined Shell LiveWIRE, where she received training in financial literacy, business planning, and operations. The program helped her build a clearer vision for JB Marinated Chicken and gave her the tools to grow.

Sa ngayon, tuloy pa rin ang pag-i-innovate ko. Dinadagdagan ko ng bagong flavors—galing pa rin sa mga gusto ng mga anak ko,” she smiles.

Today, Sharon supplies her products to Shell events, bringing her home-cooked meals to bigger audiences. Her journey is a powerful reminder that with grit, support, and a mother’s love, dreams can be turned into reality.

Beyond the business, Sharon draws strength from her family and her faith. “Hindi natin kaya sa sarili lang natin,” she says. “Kaya dasal at inspirasyon ang puhunan ko. Lahat tayo may pinagdadaanan, pero kakayanin.”

From heartbreak to healing, Sharon Lozada shows that love, when paired with courage and determination, is the most powerful ingredient of all.
