Ang Kwento ng mga Kababaihan ng LAWPA

Sa isang bayan sa Camarines Sur, may isang grupo ng mga kababaihan na mahilig sumama sa iba’t ibang pagtitipon. Maging kasalan, birthday, o anumang okasyon ay hindi nawawala ang grupong ito. Isang araw, sa gitna ng kanilang masayang salu-salo, umusbong ang ideya na bumuo ng opisyal na grupo. Hangad nilang makatulong sa kanilang komunidad.

 

Sila ang LAKASAN—pangalan pa lang, sumasagisag na sa tibay at katatagan. Nagmula sa pangalan ng apat na barangay sa Ocampo, Camarines Sur: Lapurisima, Kagmanaba, San Antonio, at Sta. Isabel. Kalaunan ay tinawag itong Lapurisima Women’s Planter Association o LAWPA. Binuo ang samahan sa pangunguna nina Josi Hernandez, Rosita Ibarientos, Yolanda Riba, Anabel Iluha, at Rosana Marpuri.

Layunin ng LAWPA na tutukan ang pangangailangan ng kanilang pamayanan sa pamamagitan ng pakikilahok sa komunidad gamit ang kanilang lokal na kaalaman.

 

Sinimulan nila ang pagtatayo ng communal garden. Pinalalago nila ito upang magkaroon ang kanilang komunidad ng sariling pook-taniman ng gulay. 

Ang kanilang mga ani ay inaalok sa public market ng Munisipyo ng Ocampo, habang ang ibang nalilikom nilang kita ay kanilang ibinabahagi sa Bicol Medical Center Hospital ng Naga City.

 

Bukod pa rito ay sinusuportahan din nila ang mga senior citizen sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng libreng gamot at grocery pack mula sa mga donasyon.

 

Handa rin silang magbigay ng tulong pinansiyal sa mga namatayan sa oras ng pangangailangan. Gayundin sa mga miyembro o interesado sa kanilang loan assistance sa “Project Tabang”.

 

Sa determinasyon at pagtutulungan ng LAWPA, patuloy silang nagbibigay ng inspirasyon sa kanilang komunidad.

 

Ngunit sa kabila ng kanilang mga adhikain, humaharap din ang grupo sa ilang mga pagsubok tulad ng kakulangan sa mga miyembro, kagamitan, at makinarya. Gayunpaman, hindi nila pinalagpas ang oportunidad na matuto para sa kanilang pag-unlad.

 

Kasama ang LAWPA sa mga nagsasanay ng Integrated Farming Bio System (IFBS) sa Shell Training Farm sa Bombon, Camarines Sur. Ito ay programa ng Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) na nagsasagawa ng mga training tungkol sa sustainable practices sa agrikultura. Mabuting hakbang ito para sa pagpapalago ng kaalaman, kakayahan, at produktibidad ng mga magsasaka.

 

Dahil dito ay umangat ang kalidad at dami ng kanilang ani. Malaki ang naitulong nito sa pagyabong ng kanilang community garden.

Bukod pa rito, suportado rin ng PSFI ang kanilang Swine Breeding and Dispersal Project. Ang proyekto ng LAWPA ay nagbibigay ng karagdagang pangkabuhayan para sa kanilang komunidad.

 

Ang LAWPA—noo’y nagsimula lamang bilang isang balak sa isang kasiyahan, at ngayo’y

namulaklak ng kolektibong aksyon— ay isang magandang halimbawa ng kung paano ang pagkakaroon ng malasakit sa isa’t isa ang ating makakapitan upang harapin ang mga hamon ng lipunan.

Quezon City, PSFI, and ANTHILL Open Circularity Hub in Payatas, Advancing Textile Waste Upcycling and Women’s Livelihoods

The Quezon City Government, in partnership with ANTHILL Fabric Gallery and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), has officially opened the Circularity Hub in Barangay Payatas, the first facility in the Philippines dedicated to textile waste upcycling. The Hub empowers local women through weaving and skills development, transforming discarded textiles into high-value products while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. By bringing together environmental action, cultural preservation, and community enterprise, the initiative demonstrates how circular economy solutions can drive both social and environmental impact.

PSFI, Shell, and Batangas City Mark Turnover of Wildlife Learning Hub and Gift Café

Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), together with Shell Pilipinas Corporation and the City Government of Batangas, formally marked the ceremonial turnover of the Wildlife Learning Hub and Gift Café at the EBD Eco-Park and Wildlife Rescue Center.
