MGCC Technical-Vocational Scholars Strengthen Leadership Through LEAD Workshop

Story by Elena Encio, PSFI Program Officer

Fifteen scholars under the MGCC Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program, implemented by Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) with the support of the Manila Golf and Country Club Foundation, Inc. (MGCCFI), successfully completed the Leadership Enhancement and Attitude Development (LEAD) Workshop held from June 15 to 17, 2026, at the Golden Phoenix Hotel Manila in Pasay City.

The participants are caddies from the Manila Golf and Country Club who are currently enrolled in Basic Entrepreneurship with Customer Service NC II under the scholarship program. Designed to enhance employability and expand livelihood opportunities, the MGCC Technical-Vocational Scholarship Program provides industry-recognized technical-vocational education for MGCC caddies, outsourced personnel, and qualified dependents through TESDA-accredited training.

Designed to complement their technical training, the LEAD Workshop focused on developing the scholars’ leadership potential, communication skills, and personal effectiveness. Through interactive learning sessions and team-building activities, participants strengthened their self-awareness, built meaningful interpersonal relationships, and cultivated the values and attitudes essential for delivering excellent customer service while developing an entrepreneurial mindset.

During the workshop, Ynna Doblado, Program Manager for Shell-funded programs at PSFI, encouraged the scholars to maximize every learning opportunity beyond earning certifications. She emphasized the importance of applying their learnings in their daily work, sharing their knowledge with others, and viewing each training experience as a stepping stone toward achieving their personal and professional aspirations.

She also reminded the scholars that the true success of PSFI’s scholarship programs is reflected in the achievements of its beneficiaries.

Our greatest fulfillment is seeing our scholars achieve their dreams and hearing how the opportunities and support they received through PSFI have made a positive difference in their lives.

The LEAD Workshop forms part of PSFI’s holistic approach to scholar development by complementing technical training with leadership development and values formation. Beyond equipping scholars with industry-recognized competencies, the program empowers them with the confidence, character, and life skills needed to excel in the workplace, pursue entrepreneurial opportunities, and create better futures for themselves and their families.
