Tacloban City | June 5–6, 2026. Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), in partnership with the Shell Anibong Terminal, strengthened its commitment to education and community development by expanding its Brigada Eskwela initiative to three public elementary schools in Tacloban City: Nulatula Elementary School, Bayanihan Elementary School, and New Hope Elementary School.
For the past three years, PSFI and the Shell Anibong Terminal have supported Nulatula Elementary School in Barangay 03 through Brigada Eskwela. This year, the school received school supplies and painting materials to help create a more welcoming and conducive learning environment for its students.
Building on this long-standing partnership, the initiative expanded on June 6 to reach two additional schools, extending support to even more learners and communities.
At Bayanihan Elementary School in Barangay 73, light construction materials were provided to repair the ceilings of two classrooms, contributing to safer and more comfortable learning spaces. A medical mission was also conducted through the volunteer efforts of Dr. Eden Grace L. Gobenciong, a Level III Pediatric Resident at RTR Hospital. Fifteen children received well and sick child consultations, along with free medicines and vitamins.
Meanwhile, New Hope Elementary School in Barangay 107 received support focused on both education and student health. Forty incoming Grade 6 learners were provided with school bags to help prepare them for the new school year, while a box of vitamins was turned over to support the school’s health initiatives.
The medical mission likewise benefited Nulatula Elementary School, where 36 children received consultations, medicines, and vitamins.
The initiative was carried out in close coordination with school heads Ms. Jasmin S. De La Torre of Nulatula Elementary School, Ms. Jovita P. Mantua of Bayanihan Elementary School, and Ms. Aileen R. Apostol of New Hope Elementary School, together with Shell Anibong Terminal Manager Ivan Mathew Suello.
In recognition of their continued partnership and support for Brigada Eskwela, all three schools presented Certificates of Appreciation to PSFI and the Shell Anibong Terminal.
With a total assistance value of PHP 46,500, this year’s Brigada Eskwela initiative reflects the continued growth of the partnership between PSFI and the Shell Anibong Terminal. What began as sustained support for one partner school has expanded to benefit more learners, helping create safer, healthier, and more inclusive learning environments across Tacloban City.
Through initiatives like Brigada Eskwela, PSFI and the Shell Anibong Terminal continue to work with local communities to help ensure that every child begins the school year in a learning environment where they can thrive.
