REACH Brings Essential Healthcare Services Closer to Libjo Communities

For many families in Barangay Libjo, access to healthcare can be challenging. Routine medical consultations, dental check-ups, and diagnostic tests often require time, travel, and resources that are not always readily available. As a result, health concerns that could be addressed early are sometimes delayed, affecting the well-being of individuals and families alike.

Recognizing these challenges, Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), together with Shell Import Facility Tabangao (SHIFT), continues to strengthen community health through the REliable Access to Community Healthcare (REACH) initiative. Designed to bring essential healthcare services closer to communities, REACH helps ensure that quality medical care is accessible to those who need it most.

On May 9, 2026, PSFI conducted a Medical and Dental Mission at the New Covered Court in Sitio New San Vicente, Barangay Libjo, Batangas City, serving residents from nearby communities through free medical consultations, dental services, medicines, and diagnostic support.

The mission benefited hundreds of community members, providing immediate healthcare assistance and opportunities for early detection and preventive care. A total of:

  • 133 individuals received medical consultations;
  • 91 patients availed of dental services;
  • 215 beneficiaries received free medicines and pharmacy assistance; and
  • 30 patients underwent Fasting Blood Sugar testing.

Beyond the numbers, the activity provided peace of mind to families, helping them address health concerns that may have otherwise gone unattended. It also encouraged community members to prioritize their health and seek timely medical attention, reinforcing the importance of preventive care in maintaining overall well-being.

The REACH Medical and Dental Mission forms part of PSFI’s broader Community Activity Support (CAS) program, which has reached more than 30,000 individuals since 2023 through health, education, environmental, and community engagement initiatives. By bringing essential services directly to communities, CAS helps strengthen local systems, address immediate needs, and foster long-term community well-being.

The success of the mission was made possible through the collective efforts of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and partner institutions who shared a common commitment to community health. These included the City Health Office of Batangas, Philippine Air Force, Provincial Health Office of Batangas, Barangay Libjo Local Government Unit, Batangas Medical Society, Lyceum of the Philippines University–Batangas, MedCity Diagnostic and Medical Center, MedCity Pharmacy, Batangas Health Care Hospital – Jesus of Nazareth, Batangas Medical Center, Shell Pilipinas Corporation (SPC), and Shell Business Operations (SBO) Manila.

Their collaboration reflects the power of partnership in addressing community needs and creating meaningful impact. By bringing together expertise, resources, and volunteerism, the mission was able to reach more families and deliver essential healthcare services where they are needed most.

Behind every consultation, prescription, and dental procedure was a person seeking relief, a parent caring for a child, a worker striving to stay healthy, or a senior citizen looking after their well-being. Through REACH, PSFI and Shell companies in the Philippines continue to demonstrate that healthcare is more than a service. It is an investment in people. By making healthcare more accessible, the program helps communities become healthier, stronger, and better equipped to build brighter futures for themselves and the generations to come.
