Rooted in Partnership, Growing Lasting Change: Metrobank Foundation’s Message to PSFI at 44
As Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) celebrates its 44th anniversary, Metrobank Foundation, Inc. President Philip Francisco U. Dy reflects on the organizations’ meaningful partnership through Roots to Shoots and the shared commitment behind its impact in Pasacao, Camarines Sur.
We join Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) as it celebrates 44 years
of commitment and service, creating lasting impact to communities across
the country.
Our partnership with PSFI through Roots to Shoots has been a meaningful
journey in strengthening the health, resilience, and livelihoods of
families in Barangays Sta. Rosa del Sur and Cuco, Pasacao. By addressing
nutrition, food security, and community health through an integrated
approach, the program has shown the power of collaboration in creating
meaningful and sustainable change.
As the program concludes this year, we celebrate the progress achieved and
the positive change made possible through our partnership. Beyond the
milestones achieved, this partnership has also strengthened our
appreciation for the importance of working alongside communities. The
experience reminds us that lasting change is built not only through
programs and resources, but through trust, shared commitment, and
partnerships that enable communities to become active partners in their
own development.
It is a privilege for Metrobank Foundation to share in PSFI’s journey and
to witness the difference that purposeful partnerships can make. We deeply
appreciate PSFI’s openness, supportive and collaborative spirit, as well as
its dedication and hard work in navigating challenges and finding ways to

A long-held dream has become a reality for families in Sitio Kaging, Bamban, Tarlac, as a new community water system brings safe and reliable water to 36 families, benefiting more than 120 individuals. The milestone was achieved through the Roots to Shoots Light Program and the collective efforts of the community and its partners.
At 50, solo mother of six Jocelyn Enfermo returned to school through the Medical Scholarship Program (MSP) and completed her caregiving training. With new skills and renewed hope, she is ready to begin again and build a more secure future for her children.
Five years into her journey with PSFI, Michelle Jeanne “Mich” Calica has learned that meaningful development begins with believing in people. As Program Coordinator for Roots to Shoots/Nutrition, she helps connect communities to opportunities that strengthen nutrition, livelihoods, and resilience, while recognizing that the potential to create lasting change ultimately belongs to the people themselves.
One hundred caregiver scholars celebrated a major milestone as 99 earned their Caregiving NC II certification through the Medical Scholarship Program–Technical Vocational Course. Supported by BCFI and implemented by PSFI, the program equips aspiring caregivers with technical skills, professional readiness, and values grounded in compassion, integrity, and service.
Behind every figure is a person, a possibility, and a story of change. As PSFI’s Resource Development Specialist, John Erick Manese has learned to look beyond numbers and help build the partnerships that allow programs to grow, communities to thrive, and more people to receive the opportunities they deserve.
Joshua Israel “Ryle” Banog, Program Coordinator for Shell-Funded Programs at PSFI, believes that meaningful development goes beyond providing assistance. His journey shows how purpose, compassion, and empowering communities with knowledge and skills can turn quiet decisions into lasting change.
