Pasacao, Camarines Sur – July 2, 2026. Forty-eight caregivers from the municipality of Pasacao successfully completed the Go Baby Go (GBG) Training for Caregivers, equipping them with practical knowledge and skills to support child nutrition, early childhood development, responsive caregiving, and healthy growth during the critical first 1,000 days of life.
Implemented under the Roots to Shoots (RTS) Pasacao 2.0 program, with the support of Metrobank Foundation, the training brought together mothers, local health workers, and community partners to strengthen caregiving practices and promote healthier starts for children in the community. Through a series of interactive learning sessions, participants gained practical knowledge on responsive caregiving, proper nutrition, and child development during one of the most critical stages of a child’s life.
The rollout began on May 28, when 37 caregivers completed the initial sessions, followed by 13 additional participants on June 25, bringing the total to 48 graduates who successfully completed the ten-module training program. Facilitated by community partners with expertise in child nutrition, parenting, and child growth monitoring, the sessions combined discussions, practical demonstrations, and hands-on activities that encouraged active participation and peer learning.
The program culminated in a graduation ceremony held on July 2 at Chao Bella Café in Santa Rosa Del Norte, Pasacao. The Municipal Nutrition Officer opened the program with inspiring remarks, while the nurse of Barangay Santa Rosa Del Sur delivered a message of support to the graduating caregivers. Participants also took part in a friendly group quiz that reinforced the lessons learned throughout the training before receiving their Certificates of Completion.
Beyond the certificates, the program’s greatest achievement was the positive change it inspired among caregivers.
One participant, Rhea Mae, shared that the training deepened her understanding of parenting and child development. She reflected that one of the lessons reminded her that providing children with consistent care, attention, and affection is just as important as meeting their physical needs, helping lay a strong foundation for their future.
Other caregivers also described how the sessions influenced their daily routines at home. Jocelyn shared that she became more intentional about feeding her child on time, practicing proper handwashing before meals, and regularly checking on her child while sleeping. Meanwhile, Benna realized that some traditional childcare practices she previously followed needed to be replaced with evidence-based approaches that better support her child’s health and well-being.
The experience also empowered the community partners who facilitated the sessions. They shared that participating in the rollout not only allowed them to contribute to the success of the program but also strengthened their confidence, particularly in speaking before fellow caregivers and leading community learning sessions.
The Go Baby Go Training for Caregivers is one of the key initiatives under the Roots to Shoots Pasacao 2.0 program of Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI), implemented in partnership with Manila Water Foundation and World Vision Development Foundation, Inc., with the support of Metrobank Foundation. Together, the partners continue to empower caregivers with the knowledge and confidence to raise healthier children, helping create stronger families and more resilient communities in Pasacao.
