Lighting the Way Forward: PSFI, PhilDev, and Shell Empower Future Leaders Through 5-Day Leadership Camp

In a world constantly shaped by innovation, adaptability, and heart, Shell, PhilDev, and Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc. (PSFI) are investing in what matters most—the youth. From August 4 to 8, 2025, a select group of Shell-PhilDev scholars gathered in Manila for the Shell-PhilDev Leadership Camp, a five-day immersion that nurtured not only minds but aspirations.

From provinces near and far, these scholars are charting their paths in STEM—engineering, agriculture, information systems, and technology—carrying with them not just their dreams, but the promise of becoming the next wave of Filipino changemakers who will shape a brighter, more sustainable future.

The camp opened its doors at the Shell Business Operations (SBO) office, where participants were warmly welcomed into the heart of Shell’s operations. The day’s sessions provided a deep dive into AI trends, personal development, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)—followed by a mentoring session with Shell professionals who openly shared their corporate journeys, learnings, and life lessons.

A special session with Susanne Dreyer, Vice President  of Shell Business Operations, encouraged the scholars to be bold and curious:

“Take your time. Explore. Don’t be afraid to try things and find what you love,” she shared, reflecting on her journey through eight roles across two decades at Shell.

Throughout the week, scholars journeyed inward and outward—starting with self and family reflections on Day 2, part of the LEAD (Leadership Enhancement and Attitude Development) workshop, and growing into sessions on teamwork, problem-solving, social skills, and critical thinking by Day 3. An interactive game on Energy Transition gave them a hands-on understanding of the global energy shift, while a briefing with Shell Philippines’ HR team provided insights into career readiness and professional growth.

On August 7, the baton was passed to those who came before them—former Shell-PhilDev scholars who returned to mentor and guide the current cohort.

A session with Mr. Paco Sandejas, Chairman- PhilDev Foundation, spotlighted not only innovation but resilience:

“Dreams are meant to be lived, not just imagined. Challenge yourselves not just to succeed, but to matter,” he shared.

The camp concluded with closing remarks from PhilDev Executive Director Frederick Blancas, followed by a culminating program—conceived, planned, and performed by the scholars themselves.

“This week gave us more than knowledge—it gave us courage,” shared one scholar. “We are leaving with mentors, dreams, and a community.”

Together, Shell, PhilDev, and PSFI are cultivating a generation of changemakers—equipped with purpose, empowered by innovation, and inspired to lead.
